Luis G. Cabrita da Silva – President, Chief Executive Officer, and Director
Mr. Luis da Silva brings to GB Minerals extensive international experience as a senior-level mining executive and an experienced mining engineer in the junior exploration and development space in west Africa. From 2007, Mr. da Silva presided over the restructuring of the three commodities within the original Mano River Resources into Afferro Mining, Aureus Mining and Stellar Diamonds. Previous roles include head of group audit of Asia Pacific for multinational Lafarge S.A. and President and CEO of Afferro Mining until its acquisition for a consideration of US$200m completed in December 2013. Mr. da Silva remains a non-executive director of Stellar Diamonds plc (AIM: STEL) and Aureus Mining Inc (TSX: AUE & AIM: AUE). Mr. da Silva is a graduate mining engineer from Camborne School of Mines and holds a MBA from Cranfield School of Management.
Phillip Mason, B.Sc (Mechanical Engineering) - Vice President, Operations
Prior to joining GB Minerals, Mr. Phillip Mason was Operations Director at Forécariah, the only producing Iron ore mine in Guinea. His role included responsibility for mining, processing, haulage and port and marine operations. These processes will likewise be required in the Farim Phosphate project and GB Minerals Ltd. is pleased to have someone with the appropriate skills and experience to join the team. Mr. Mason has previously managed and delivered numerous feasibility studies from banking stage through to full operational phase, exclusively in remote Sub Saharan Africa environments. Mr. Mason was previously Managing Director for IGE Resources in Angola; Country Manager for Amari Holdings in the Democratic Republic of Congo; Operations Director for Sengamines Amari and Chief Engineer for ITM Mining in Angola. Mr. Mason is fluent in Portugese and Spanish.
Angel Law, CGA - Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary
Ms. Angel Law is a Certified General Accountant and a graduate of the University of British Columbia where she obtained a bachelor of arts degree. Ms. Law has worked in the resource industry in Vancouver since 2006 and is currently the Chief Financial Officer of the Company, and held the position of Chief Financial Officer of Resource Hunter Capital Corp. since May 28, 2010 until it changed its name to GB Minerals Ltd. Prior to joining the Company, Ms. Law previously held the position of Interim Chief Financial Officer of Lion Energy Corp., a Vancouver based TSX-V oil and gas exploration company from May 2010 to June 2010 and Controller from February 2010 to June 2011 until its acquisition by Africa Oil Corp. in June 2011. And prior to joining Lion Energy Corp., Ms. Law had been with Western Prospector Group Ltd., a Vancouver based TSX-V company specializing in the exploration and development of uranium properties in Mongolia, between February 2006 and January 2010, and played a major role in the $31-milllion acquisition by CNNC International Ltd. during her tenure with Western Prospector Group Ltd.
Olga Kovalik, M.B.A and B.Eng (Mining) - Project Director
Ms. Olga Kovalik has over twenty years of experience in the metals and mining industry with leadership roles in finance and controllership, mega project construction, business development and operations. Previous roles include Finance Director of the growth division for Alcoa, Board of CBG in Guinea, Production General Manager for Alcoa´s Rod Mill and Production Superintendent for Alcoa´ ABI smelter in Canada. Ms. Kovalik also worked in investment banking for UBS, Citigroup, and Morgan Stanley, and she is fluent in Portugese and French.
Luc Adjanor, M.B.A. and M.Sc (Metallurgical Engineering) - Marketing and Business Development
Mr. Luc Adjanor has fifteen years of experience advising mining and metals companies in Morocco, Republic of Congo and Togo for the production, transformation, and marketing of phosphates, iron ore, precious metals, aluminum, and rare earths. Mr. Adjanor was a former engineer, management consultant and M&A specialist focusing on long-term strategies, investment analysis and route to market analysis. Mr. Adjanor previously worked for Lafarge, OCP, SNIM and other junior mining companies, and he is fluent in Portugese, Spanish, and French.
